As the Baltic States continue to grow in popularity as tourist destinations, their capitals are becoming more accessible while remaining affordable.
Riga is home to three main Christmas markets, with the largest located at Doma Laukums, also known as Town Square in English.

Top Pick
Neiburgs HotelAddress: Jauniela 25/27, Rīga
A stylish boutique hotel located directly opposite Riga Cathedral, Neiburgs Hotel is by far the best hotel near Riga Christmas market. The historic stone building has been impeccibly renovated with simple yet quality design features. The huge windows let in an abundance of natural light, the pale floorboards are laid in a classic herringbone design and the hotel facilities include a wonderful library and a small gym. Some rooms include a kitchenette and a large apartment with a living room is available if you would like more space.

Apartments in Riga
Apartment Old Town Riga River View

Luxury Hotels in Riga
Grand Hotel Kempinski Riga
Address: 22 Aspazijas bulvāris, Rīga
Three minutes walk from Livu Laukums and 7 minutes from Doma Laukums, the Grand Hotel Kempinski is well located for a short winter break in Riga.
The classically designed interior complements the hotel’s grand exterior, an architectural attraction in its own right. Excellent facilities and service are as you would expect in a luxury hotel of this standard.
Grand Poet Hotel
Address: Raiņa bulvāris 5/6 , Rīga, LV-1050, Latvia
The Grand Poet Hotel is very well located, as it is near Esplanade Park and also close to attractions such as the Freedom Monument, the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia, and a number of other museums, cinemas, and theatres. The hotel rooms have a plush, luxurious design, and guests receive free access to the spa facilities.
A22 Hotel
Address: Ausekļa iela 22, Rīga
A little further out but an absolutely exceptional boutique hotel, A22 is the hotel for you if you care about design, quality, service and attention to detail.
When I say further out, it’s only a 15 or 20-minute walk to the centre and each of the Christmas markets. If you can walk that distance, I highly recommend this hotel. At least look at the photos and read the reviews to see if this might suit you.
They offer bike rental, so if the weather is good, you could use this service to help you get around.
This 5-star hotel also offers a gym, sauna, restaurant, and an electric car charging station for those arriving by electric vehicle.

Alternatively, my Latvia Christmas Markets List mentions additional markets outside of Riga.
