Bordeaux Christmas Market 2026: Best Mulled Wine in France

Last Updated: 1 July 2026
No Comments

The Bordeaux Christmas Market occupies one of the largest public squares in Europe, and the food here leans hard into the region’s strengths: canelés with their caramelised crust and rum-vanilla centre, vin chaud made from local reds, and an incredibly thick hot chocolate that I still think about. This is a wine capital that knows how to do winter well.

What to Expect

Bordeaux in winter is quite an experience. One of France’s most beautiful cities becomes even more stunning as its UNESCO World Heritage architecture is adorned with decorations and lights.

French and international artisans showcase their crafts here, from unique trinkets to festive ornaments, perfect for souvenirs or gifts.

As the world’s wine capital, Bordeaux’s market naturally features exceptional local wines, perfect for taking home, as well as mulled wine made with famous Bordeaux reds, rather than generic wine.
