Podgorica Christmas Market 2026 and Holiday Lights

Last Updated: 1 July 2026
No Comments

Most visitors to Montenegro head straight for the coast, but the Podgorica Christmas Market offers a window into how the capital celebrates. The city blends its Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian layers with a concrete-heavy post-war centre, and the market brings handcrafted goods and regional treats to the main squares in a setting that feels genuinely local rather than curated for visitors.

What to Expect

Initiated in 2018, this event showcases the region’s rich cultural, artistic, and gastronomic heritage. The illuminations above the square and the centrally located, brilliantly lit Christmas tree infuse a genuine warmth into the chilly air.

Wooden stalls populate the square, each one a showcase for local artisans and businesses, presenting a range of unique Montenegrin products. Nearby, an expansive, two-layer ice rink measuring 600 m2 beckons, offering daily skating opportunities. Santa Claus stands ready every day to warmly welcome children.
