Oslo Christmas Market 2026: A Huge Winter Wonderland

Last Updated: 1 July 2026
No Comments

The main Oslo winter market stretches along Karl Johans gate with a skating rink, Ferris wheel and rows of stalls within sight of the Royal Palace. But I’d also recommend the weekend market at the Norsk Folkemuseum, where costumed actors show how Norwegians celebrated in everything from an 18th-century merchant’s house to a 1950s family home.

Sustainability Tips

  • Green Hotels: Consider staying at a hotel that conserves water and energy.
  • Food Waste: Over-purchasing at the food stalls can be tempting. Plan your meals carefully to avoid overbuying and food waste. If you have leftover food, consider eating it later.
  • Consumerism: When shopping, only buy what you need. Support local businesses that offer sustainable products and services.
  • Eating Out: Opt for plant-based or locally sourced meals to minimise your carbon footprint.
  • Transport: Consider walking, biking or taking public transport to get around.
