Knaresborough Christmas Market 2026 in North Yorkshire

Last Updated: 1 July 2026
No Comments

Perched on dramatic limestone cliffs above the River Nidd, with a ruined castle, a railway viaduct that belongs on a postcard, and a cave where a 15th-century prophetess was supposedly born, Knaresborough is a town built on good stories. The Knaresborough Christmas Market adds another reason to visit, taking over the town centre with stalls, live music, and seasonal food.

What to Expect

Centred around the historic Market Place, the event showcases quality stalls and brings together the town’s independent shops and eateries, offering unique products and a genuine Yorkshire warmth.

As you meander through the town, make sure to venture into the Castlegate area, home to numerous independent businesses and the enchanting Green Dragon Yard. Don’t miss the iconic river view from the castle ruins and the delightful window trail around town. A further highlight is the Christmas Tree Festival at St John’s Church, where over 70 trees shimmer with festive decorations.

As a conclusion to your experience, witness a spectacular fireworks display marking the culmination of Knaresborough’s festive events. You can see them from any viewpoint that overlooks the river.

While you’re in the region, visit the nearby Harrogate Christmas Market.
