Wrigleyville Christmas Market 2026 and Winterland at Gallagher Way

Last Updated: 2 July 2026
No Comments

Winterland at Gallagher Way puts a market right in the shadow of Wrigley Field, which gives it an atmosphere no purpose-built venue can replicate. Ice skating, workshops, and holiday film screenings fill out the programme beyond the vendor stalls, and Cubs fans will appreciate the off-season excuse to return to the neighborhood.

What to Expect

The Wrigley Field Christmas Market stands out for its unique character. The vendors primarily comprise local artisans selling a range of handmade goods, from custom jewellery to gourmet treats. You’ll find traditional Christkindlmarket stalls surrounding vintage-style carousels and event stages. Don’t forget to look for Christkind at the heart of the market.

Food Specialties

Chicago-style Hot Dogs: A staple of any Chicago event, these hot dogs are typically topped with yellow mustard, white onions, sweet pickle relish, a dill pickle spear, tomato slices, pickled sport peppers, and a touch of celery salt. Served in a poppy seed bun, these dogs are a hearty snack to fuel your festive market adventures.

Deep-Dish Pizza: Unmistakably Chicagoan, this unique pizza variety is characterised by its high edge and copious amounts of cheese and sauce. With various toppings to choose from, meat lovers and vegetarians will find something to their liking.

Gourmet Popcorn: You’ll find vendors selling this beloved local snack in a variety of flavours, ranging from the sweet, caramel-infused ‘Chicago Mix’ to the savoury, cheese-dusted variant. Some stalls also offer inventive new combinations, including those seasoned with festive spices.

Handmade Chocolates: Local chocolatiers present their range of handmade treats, featuring everything from traditional truffles to innovative flavour combinations. Some stalls also offer vegan options, ensuring that those on a plant-based diet can indulge their sweet tooth.

Mulled Wine: A classic Christmas market offering, mulled wine is a delicious warming treat on a chilly winter’s day. Brewed with a variety of spices, this traditional holiday beverage is found at several stalls across the market.

Vegetarian Tamales: A nod to the city’s diverse culinary landscape, these vegetarian tamales feature a mix of cheese, vegetables, and spices wrapped in a corn husk. This tasty street food is a great plant-based option that doesn’t skimp on flavour.

Artisanal Cheese: Several local creameries showcase their products at the market, offering a wide range of cheeses from creamy brie to sharp cheddar. Some also offer vegan cheeses, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

Pretzels: An international Christkindlmarket favourite, pretzels are as present in Wrigleyville as they are in European markets. Whether you prefer them simply salted or with a decadent cheese dip, they’re a delightful snack to enjoy as you wander the market stalls.

Gifts and Stocking Fillers

Chicago Sports Memorabilia: Given Wrigleyville’s proximity to Wrigley Field, you’ll find plenty of stalls offering sports memorabilia. From baseball caps adorned with the Chicago Cubs logo to vintage baseball cards, these items make the perfect gift for sports enthusiasts.

Handcrafted Jewellery: Local artisans showcase a stunning array of handcrafted jewellery at the market. With an array of items ranging from beautifully simple pieces to more intricate designs, there is a piece to suit every style and budget. Some vendors even offer custom pieces, allowing you to create a truly personal gift.

Art Prints: Chicago is known for its vibrant arts scene, and this is reflected in the market’s offerings. Talented local artists sell prints of their work, featuring scenes from across the city. These make a unique, stylish addition to any home.

Handmade Candles: You’ll find a variety of vendors selling handmade candles at the market. Made from a range of materials, including soy and beeswax, these candles often come in festive scents like cinnamon and pine. Many are packaged in reusable containers, making them an environmentally friendly choice.

Locally Roasted Coffee: Coffee lovers will appreciate the selection of locally roasted beans available. Vendors often provide details about the origin of the beans and the roasting process; some even offer tasting samples. These make an excellent stocking filler for the caffeine enthusiast in your life.

Craft Beers: Chicago has a thriving craft beer scene, and you’ll find a variety of local breweries offering their products at the market. Whether you prefer a hoppy IPA or a smooth stout, you can pick up a bottle or two for the beer aficionado in your life.

Handcrafted Ornaments: Traditional ornaments, handmade by local artisans, are a staple of the market. These ornaments often feature festive designs or iconic Chicago landmarks, making them a charming addition to any Christmas tree.

Sustainable Holiday Tips

Eco-Friendly Accommodation: In Chicago, several hotels have made commendable efforts towards sustainability, including the use of renewable energy. So, if you’re visiting from afar, be sure to do some research and choose an accommodation committed to reducing its environmental impact.

Reduce Food Waste: With an abundance of food stalls at the Holiday Market, it’s tempting to over-indulge. To minimise food waste, I suggest you order portions you can comfortably finish or consider sharing meals with your travel companions. Also, remember to dispose of any leftovers or packaging in the appropriate recycling or compost bins provided.

Ethical Shopping: Wrigleyville’s Christmas market is a great place to buy gifts, but shopping responsibly is important. Support local artisans by purchasing handmade items and avoid mass-produced goods where possible. Additionally, try to only buy what you genuinely need or will use.

Sustainable Diets: Consider incorporating more plant-based options into your diet during your visit. Many food stalls at the Wrigleyville market offer delicious vegetarian and vegan dishes that are good for you and the planet.

Sustainable Transport: Lastly, consider how you get around Chicago. The area is well-served by public transport, including buses and the L train. Walking or cycling is an excellent way to reduce your carbon footprint if you’re staying close to the market. Not only does it help the environment, but it gives you a chance to explore the city at a slower pace and soak up the festive atmosphere.
